Optical sorting technology for waste management from the Boukhadra iron ore mine (NE Algeria)

Mining processes in the iron ore mine of Boukhadra, Tebessa (NE Algeria) generated thousands tons mining wastes every year, which represents a real threat to environment, leading hazardous effects for resident population region. The aim this study is selective sorting Boukhadra valorization. This will facilitate recycling mineral substances (limestone, iron, marls) on one hand and it makes possible minimize volume stocks their environmental impacts other hand. To do this, taking into account chemical properties wastes, we recommend an optical separation management using color camera microprocessor linked ejection system (valve or pump), measurement tests performed waste rocks samples Matlab codes converted from Algorithms showed that each rock has specific (Red Green Blue value) RGB. For purpose, use three separators sort according algorithmic commands (RGB interval) contribute consequently simplify reuse.
